顳下頜關節的關節面被軟骨覆蓋。顳下頜關節連接下顎和顱骨，調節下顎的運動。顳下頜關節軟骨力學性質的研究主要包括：顳下頜關節軟骨在人體內的結構功能、病理學對顳下頜關節力學及相關臨床問題的影響、顳下頜關節軟骨工程化結構的研制、顳下頜關節軟骨生理學研究。

Articular surfaces of the temporomandibular joints are covered by cartilage. Temporomandibular joints connect the lower jaw to the skull and regulates the movement of the jaw. Mechanical properties of the articular cartilage of temporomandibular joints are studies to learn about: its structural function in the body, the effects of pathologies in TMJ mechanics and related clinical issues, development of engineered construct of articular cartilage of TMJ, research in articular cartilage of TMJ physiology.
